Sumudu Wijesinghe

Sumudu, an artist originally from Sri Lanka, now resides in the United Kingdom with her family. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. A graduate teacher by profession, Sumudu has nurtured her passion for painting since childhood, a talent undoubtedly inherited from her father, a distinguished Art teacher in Sri Lanka. Currently, she is an active member of CollaborArti in Huddersfield, England.

Sumudu’s main ambition of painting is to showcase the rich and vibrant culture of Sri Lanka through her paintings. Her artistic repertoire is diverse, ranging from traditional and modern styles to abstracts and free styles. This eclectic approach allows her to explore and express her creativity without constraints.

Her preferred medium is acrylic and oil on canvas, known for its strong, attractive, and colourful presence. Additionally, she often transforms reusable wooden boards into stunning works of art, underscoring her commitment to sustainability and innovation.
